A Loss in the Silver Boomer Community

R. Scott Comegys, a Silver Boomers author from Shreveport, Louisiana, lost her mother Marilyn Driskell Comegys, part of the "greatest generation," last week and dedicates her Silver Boomers story to her mother's memory.

Scotty, our sympathy is with you and your family.

Getting to Know You

Bonus points if you recognize that as the song Anna (played by Deborah Kerr NOT Jodie Foster) warbled in "The King and I."

Of course you know it. You're a Boomer. Or at the very least, you like Boomers. Or musicals. Anyway, you're here because the Silver Boomers anthology is due to be released soon. That's why I'm here. That, and to say how much I'm looking forward to reading all the poetry and stories therein. I'm excited to be in such an accomplished company of authors!

I hope you'll take a few moments to check out Cathy C.'s Hall of Fame (www.cathychall.blogspot.com), the place where I write about the ups and downs of Finding Fame and Fortune on the Road to Publication.

Because Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey. (No bonus points if you name the group who sang that. Every Boomer knows that one).

The Inevitability of Time

I'm very happy to have my essay, The Inevitability of Time, included in this anthology. The essay was prompted by my oldest child's thirteenth birthday, now fourteen months ago. I think back to how I felt when she turned thirteen, and now that she's fourteen and firmly ensconced in adolescence, my only wish is that I could apologize to my own mother. But she's passed on, so this venue will have to do. Hopefully, the thoughts are now in the ether and will find her.

You can find me at www.audreyrlwyatt.com, should you wish to get in touch or read more of my work.

Hi folks . . .

I am Carly - you will see my work in the upcoming Silver Boomers Anthology.

I'll look forward to seeing it myself.

Thanks to the publishers/editors for having me.

Welcome to Blogger, Boomers!

I'm proud to be among the Silver Boomers anthology poets, and excited to see y'all here on Blogger--the server hosting The New Verse News, the online journal of progressive poltical poetry on current events and topical issues. I have been editing The NVN for a few years, and invite Silver Boomers, authors and readers, to visit the site, to keep up with our daily postings and to submit timely poetry to the journal.

Technology's Grand!

Hey, Ginny! I'm so proud of you. We're all stretching our comfort zone on this book, and it's good to see you digitally here.

Wading through technology

I can't believe I'm doing this. And it's working! I guess the date automatically posts. Well, I got this far. I think I can enter a blog when the time comes. Thanks for this new and exciting experience.

Ginny

Oh, how do I post it? I guess I Save Now, the Publish Post, then Return to list of posts. If not, I'm back at square one. A familiar place.

They are an awesome lot, and you'll enjoy meeting them. I know we've enjoyed getting to know them through their writings.
